    I didn’t actually buy it for books I bought it for storage of my candles amongst other things but it held well and did a great job it’s beautiful when put together.

    I love the quality and look of this bookcase so much that I ordered another one. The parts were packed well and clearly marked and the holes lined up perfectly making assembly a breeze. I’m a 53 year old woman with Rheumatoid Arthritis and I assembled it without assistance. All the tools you need come in the box, extras of the hardware are included in case you need them and it even includes wall anchors if you have little ones that like to climb. It’s really sturdy, yet light enough for me to move by myself. The shelves feel hefty not like that cheap particle board that sags on the bookcases you buy at Walmart. I also love the leveling feet. For the people who gave it bad reviews because the holes didn’t line up, I have a feeling they tightened everything down as they were building it. Leave the screws a little loose until you’re done with assembly then go back and tighten everything.

    This is a very attractive set of shelves. It has a classy look.

    I really like how far apart the the shelves are. It gives me room to store tall items like a stock pot. This is sizeable and holds a lot.

    It is very sturdy.

    It was also very easy to put together.

    This is an excellent, lightweight, cheap and sturdy bookcase.

    But make sure you don’t make the same mistake I, and other reviewers made, by installing the metal side rails backwards! They are NOT symmetrical. The BACK of each of the side rails has an extra hole (see the second picture) for where you connect the two bars that will form an X. I did read the other’s reviewers, but didn’t really understand what they meant until I almost finished building it, and I like them, had to take it apart to fix.

    Otherwise, it is fairly simple to build, does have extra parts, and although I wouldn’t put a load of heavy books on it, it is sturdy enough for what I need. A large textbook is about 5 pounds, and each shelf can hold 50 pounds, so you should be able to fit about 10 textbook size books, but again, while sturdy, I wouldn’t put so much weight on it.

    This bookshelf was perfect for my office. It fit the space nicely and matches my desk perfectly. It makes a nice addition to the space. Assembly was straightforward and easy. The shelf is sturdy and hold my books nicely. I did find that if you place smaller books on the end of the shelf that they tend to slide out so I ended up putting larger books on the ends and smaller books in the middle or against a book end. Other than that I’m very happy with these shelves.

    Assembling this bookshelf was a snap (took less than 30 minutes). All parts and tools (Phillips screwdriver, wrench, and Allen wrench) were all included; in fact, there was 1 extra provided for many of the bolts, screws and washers.
    Of course, when you’re done putting the shelf together, you’re going to be vacuuming up little bits of polystyrene packing and probably finding little bits you missed for the next couple of days or weeks.
    The only issue I had was that the product picture on Amazon didn’t give a very good impression of what the product finish would look like. Yes, it’s a veneer and not finished wood shelving. That’s not a surprise. The surprise was the “rustic” appearance of the shelves. The image on Amazon all you can really see is the edging, which looks like a cherry wood veneer…but that’s not what it really looks like. As you can see from my photo, the surface finish looks very “rustic”…not exactly my preference, but I can live with it.
    Overall, a nice shelf with quick and easy assembly.

    This took a little time and attention to assemble. Be careful that bottom side bars with holes are facing the same direction for cross bar attachment. Assembly was easier than expected. I like the height. I wish the shelves were adjustable but not a major issue. It’s quite sturdy. Everything aligned well. All.of.thrnparts we’re carefully packed and all tools were included and packages were marked well. Finished product is great.
